About Sheila Wee

Sheila Wee is a key pioneer of the oral storytelling revival in Singapore. She has been a full-time professional storyteller since 1998 and is often described as the Godmother of Singapore storytelling. Over the past 26 years, Sheila has brought the power of story to thousands through performances, workshops, and training programmes across educational, cultural, corporate, and community sectors.

Sheila is the founder of Storywise, through which she runs storytelling programmes tailored to audiences ranging from preschoolers to professionals. Her workshops on storytelling for influence have been delivered to government bodies, corporations, and academic institutions. Clients have included ECDA ,MOE, ST Engineering, Johnson & Johnson, NUS, SMU, STB, the National Gallery, and the WWF, among many others.

As a storyteller, Sheila is known for her elegant, warm, and engaging style. She is equally at home telling stories to intimate groups or to audiences of over a thousand. Her performances have graced festivals and stages in more than a dozen countries, including Australia, Kenya, India, the UK, Thailand, and South Korea.

Sheila is also deeply committed to growing storytelling communities. She is a founding director of the Federation of Asian Storytellers (FEAST) and a long-time leader in the Storytelling Association (Singapore), where she has served as President, Vice-President, and Workshop Chair. From 2017 to 2022, she was a founding director of Story Connection, a non-profit that organised community-based initiatives like the 398.2 Storytelling Festival and the Story Carnival @ Enabling Village.

She has curated museum-based performances, trained docents and educators, and mentored storytellers across Asia. Her workshops consistently receive high praise for being practical, inspiring, and empowering.  (She received a star trainer award from Aventis Learning Group). Whether she's helping preschool teachers bring stories into the classroom, training museum docents in interpretive storytelling, or guiding corporate leaders to use stories for connection and influence, Sheila’s mission remains the same: to restore storytelling to its rightful place at the heart of human communication.
