There’s something magical about hearing a story told aloud — the rise and fall of the voice, the sparkle in the teller’s eyes, the way the words conjure whole worlds in your mind.
This September, that magic comes alive again at the 398.2 Storytelling Festival, a free community celebration for children and families across Singapore.
A Festival for Everyone
Organised annually by the Storytelling Association (Singapore) in partnership with the National Library Board, the festival brings together a wonderfully diverse group of storytellers — from lively 10-year-olds to seasoned tellers in their eighties. Stories will be told in English, Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil, reflecting the rich tapestry of languages and cultures in Singapore.
For Families and Preschools Too
The Festival runs from 16th August to 27th September 2025.
Parents may wish to explore our in-person sessions, taking place at various libraries across Singapore over the weekends. These live shows offer a wonderful family outing — and a chance to meet the storytellers in person.
If you’re a preschool teacher or centre leader, you’ll love our online weekday sessions, specially timed for young audiences. From 1–5 September, every afternoon from 4:00 to 4:50pm, children can enjoy captivating, age-appropriate stories without leaving the classroom.
